Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), has reached an agreement with Trade[XYZ] to bring perpetual futures markets built on Hyperliquid infrastructure to the United States. In its October 29 announcement, ICE said it would also make a strategic investment in Trade[XYZ] as part of the partnership. The planned market’s launch remains subject to regulatory approval.
The partnership will cover contracts tied to cryptocurrencies, stocks, indices, commodities and foreign exchange rates. The companies aim to establish a U.S.-regulated structure that allows retail investors to trade across different asset classes around the clock.
ICE Will Operate the New Market
Under the agreement, ICE will become the exclusive operator of Trade[XYZ]’s regulated markets. The company plans to establish a dedicated retail market and clearing structure for this purpose.
The new business will operate separately from ICE’s existing institutional futures and clearing operations. ICE aims to open a new channel for reaching retail investors while continuing to serve its institutional clients.
The companies will work on a framework incorporating customer identity verification and anti-money laundering controls. Their regulatory applications will also cover the approvals required to support leveraged trading.
Hyperliquid Infrastructure Could Open a New Route to U.S. Markets
Trade[XYZ] develops perpetual futures markets on Hyperliquid tied to assets such as stocks, indices and commodities. According to figures shared by the company, cumulative trading volume across its existing markets surpassed $650 billion in just over a year.
Perpetual futures contracts have no fixed expiration date. These products allow investors to take positions on price movements without directly purchasing the underlying asset.
Trade[XYZ] said its existing Hyperliquid markets would continue operating independently while work on the new U.S. project progresses. The announcement therefore does not mean existing trading activity will immediately move to a new platform. The planned U.S. market will undergo a separate regulatory process.
Investment Size and Launch Date Remain Undisclosed
The size of ICE’s strategic investment and the ownership stake it will receive have not yet been disclosed. The companies have also not announced when the new market will launch.
According to Trade[XYZ]’s announcement, the project requires approval from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The company plans to share further details about products, eligibility requirements and timing as the approval process advances.
Investors are expected to access the market through participating brokers and trading platforms. However, the announcement does not mean U.S. users can immediately begin trading the planned contracts.
The agreement marks a notable development in the Hyperliquid ecosystem’s ties with traditional financial institutions. The project brings together ICE’s experience in operating markets and Trade[XYZ]’s onchain derivatives infrastructure, with its eventual scope dependent on regulatory approvals and product terms to be announced.
After these news, HYPE coin price rose 17 percent in 24 hours.
